When Your Vision Becomes Di-Vision
Have you ever pushed and pushed toward a vision that simply would not move forward? No matter how much effort you applied, it refused to come to life?
I have lived in that frustration.
For three years, I have been building toward a vision for my coaching practice. It was polished. It looked impressive on paper. It sounded like the next logical step.
I kept telling myself I would get to it when I finished the next big project, when life slowed down, when I had more bandwidth.
But this past month, something shifted. I finally saw the truth. The real problem was not time. It was vision.
I discovered I had two visions running at the same time.
One was the written, public vision. The one that looked right from the outside. The other was the quiet, honest vision inside me that was far more aligned with my passions, skillsets, and deepest desires.
That internal split created division. And division, at its core, is di-vision. Two visions. Competing desires. Conflicting directions.
And when that happens, the vision most deeply rooted in who you are will almost always win.
The outer vision said, Build something impressive.
The inner vision said, Build something meaningful.
Once I saw that, everything clicked. The resistance made sense. The stuckness made sense. I was not lazy. I was di-vided.
Maybe you know that feeling. Maybe you have been calling something burnout or bandwidth when it is really a deeper misalignment.
Maybe there is a truer, quieter vision tapping you on the shoulder, asking you to be honest about who you really are and what you really want.
I choose the vision that matches who I truly am. This choice is about congruence. And congruence is powerful. When your vision aligns with your values, the pieces begin to fall into place. You feel lighter. More rested (even as you work hard). More aligned.
So let me give you two questions as we approach a new year.
- Have you clearly identified the vision you are building toward? Is it written down? Can you articulate it?
- Does that vision align with who you are, what you really value, and how you were made to flourish? Or…is there another vision you have been afraid to say out loud?
As we move toward 2026 there is no better time to get honest about the future you are building. Not the future that looks impressive, but the one that is congruent with what truly matters to you.
Start there, and just like I discovered, you will feel the lightness and joy that comes when you release what looks impressive and begin building what is truly meaningful.
If clarity feels hard and you want someone to help you think it through, just hit reply. I would be honored to help.
In your corner,
Chris
